A Letter from the Founder

Greetings! I’m Aylene, and I’m excited to share our journey. My path began in the Philippines, where I was born, and took a pivotal turn when I came to the United States at age 10. I was welcomed into the care of my grandmother, Patrocinio De Guzman, a remarkable woman whose strength and kindness deeply shaped who I am.
Growing up, I was filled with a curiosity for the world and a drive to make a difference. Over time, I was fortunate to explore new places and encounter both the beauty and challenges of diverse communities. Everywhere I went, I noticed that a simple smile or warm greeting could bridge gaps and foster connection—a universal language of kindness.
Inspired to give back, I launched the Tooth Fairy Drive more than 20 years ago, gathering toothbrushes and toothpaste for Filipino school children. We expanded to send books to remote schools and began feeding programs that provided meals to those in need. Through these experiences, I saw firsthand that giving is truly reciprocal: the more you give, the more you receive. Soon, it became a family endeavor, with my twin boys joining me in the spirit of service.
In 2022, we established The Hizon International Foundation, and since then, we have accomplished the following:
*Patrocinio De Guzman Scholarship: Awarded $1000 scholarships to 18 dedicated single mothers from the U.S. and Africa, supporting their pursuit of higher education.
* Mentorship Program: Provided scholarship recipients with guidance to reach their personal and academic goals.
* Gratitude Soirees: Created a virtual space for connection, positivity, and community support.
* Educational Programs: Partnered with leaders to offer tools for personal and professional growth.
* Teacher Grant Program: Launched in 2024, these grants support teachers in underserved communities, enhancing classroom projects focused on STEM, social-emotional learning (SEL), and the arts.
These achievements are possible thanks to our team, volunteers, and supporters like you.
As we look ahead, I invite you to join us in empowering our recipients to shine even brighter. Your support helps continue these valued programs, particularly the Patrocinio De Guzman Scholarship, mentorship initiatives, educational programs, and our new teacher grants, as we expand our reach to create even greater opportunities.
